How We Built the City of Dreams for MegaFon
4-minute read
Client
MegaFon — one of Russia’s leading telecommunications providers, offering a full range of digital services and infrastructure solutions for private and corporate clients.
The project was created for employees of MegaFon Retail as part of the operator’s anniversary celebration.
Challenge
To connect 400 MegaFon Retail employees from different cities who had never met in person, and to create an inclusive, comfortable space for informal communication.
The goals were:
Strengthen team spirit and unity among employees.
Create a welcoming environment that encouraged natural interaction.
Respect cultural and religious sensitivities — avoiding any physical contact or activities that could cause discomfort.
Solution
We built "MegaFonville" — a large-scale offline version of Monopoly, where every participant became a resident of a living, breathing city.
Each employee received a unique role and a starting amount of MegaCoins, the event’s internal currency. Throughout the day, participants earned and spent these coins on entertainment, food, games, and photo zones.
To foster teamwork, we designed non-contact team activities, and the celebration concluded with a live concert and a charity-style auction, where participants traded their earnings for valuable prizes.
Execution
Creating the City
Step 1
We transformed the event venue into the city of MegaFonville — complete with themed zones, signs, and game stations. Each guest received a role, city "passport," and their first MegaCoins.
Building the Game Economy
Step 2
Participants earned currency through missions, quizzes, and mini-games. They could spend their coins on treats, experiences, and themed souvenirs, creating a loop of engagement throughout the day.
Team Interaction Without Contact
Step 3
We developed team challenges and sports games that excluded any physical interaction — focusing instead on cooperation, creativity, and shared goals.
Grand Finale
Step 4
The event closed with a cover band performance followed by an auction, where guests spent their MegaCoins to bid for exclusive prizes — turning effort and teamwork into celebration.
"Our goal wasn’t just to entertain guests — we wanted to create a natural space for genuine connection. The Monopoly-style gameplay became a perfect icebreaker, helping colleagues engage effortlessly. We paid special attention to inclusivity and comfort so that every participant felt at ease. Watching barriers dissolve between people from different cities — that was the real success".
