How We Created the Symbol of Aviation Education

Client
Sochi International Airport named after V. I. Sevastyanov — the largest air hub in Southern Russia and the fifth busiest airport in the country. It serves the main Russian resort city and its metropolitan area with a population of around 900,000 people.
Challenge
To develop a visual identity for the Aviation Training Centre based at Sochi Airport. The new style had to serve as a bridge — connecting the authority of a major aviation hub with the modern educational mission of the Centre.
Solution
We designed an identity where heritage meets innovation.

At the core of the logo lies the airport’s signature arrow motif, which we reimagined as an academic mortarboard — a universal symbol of education and achievement. A vibrant colour palette and dynamic graphic language gave the Centre a contemporary, open, and forward-looking character. The concept of an interactive assistant further personalised communication, bringing warmth and approachability to the brand’s tone.
Execution
  • Brand Analysis and Search for a Connecting Symbol
    Step 1
    We conducted an in-depth study of Sochi Airport’s brand identity to identify an element that would ensure continuity and instant recognition. The signature arrow became that link.

    By transforming it into the shape of an academic cap, we turned a purely aviation symbol into a visual metaphor for quality education — creating both intellectual and emotional synergy between the two brands.
  • Logo and Visual Language Development

    Building on this metaphor, we designed a minimalist logo where the arrow elements assemble into a stylised mortarboard.

    To distinguish the Training Centre from traditional aviation aesthetics, we moved away from the airport’s strict corporate palette and introduced vivid, dynamic colours aimed at engaging a younger audience and reflecting creativity and openness.
  • Communication System and Brand Adaptation

    We went beyond static design and developed a living visual system — including an interactive character concept that embodies the Centre’s friendly, supportive personality.

    The identity package was created for seamless integration across all touchpoints — from digital platforms to print and branded merchandise — ensuring a cohesive, modern, and approachable brand experience.
